The Adolescent Coping Scale assesses a range of 18 coping strategies and to what extent the individual uses them.
The Scale encourages young people to think in a structured way about how they have dealt with past difficulties and helps them develop a range of alternatives to improve competence in dealing with stressful situations.
A detailed self-report provides both a general and situation-specific assessment. A short form provides a snapshot of an individual’s coping strategies.
- Generates a profile for the coping strategies currently employed - providing a useful starting point when beginning work with an individual.
- Gives helpful advice on devising special support programmes.
