Access to Assessment Policy
January 2004
GL-Assessment is committed to delivering reliable, high-quality assessments to
the education community. As part of this commitment we take all reasonable
measures to preserve the integrity and security of our standardised and
specialised tests. This policy is designed to promote the ethical use of
our assessments, and to ensure that users of our tests, and the people that
they work with, receive the full benefit of rigorously controlled assessments
that deliver accurate and trustworthy results.
Customer registration
All customers are required to register with us before they purchase
an assessment. The registration process asks customers to demonstrate their
professional qualifications, and if appropriate, the school or institution at
which they work. This information enables us to identify which assessments they
are eligible to gain access to and administer. Registration is a one-off process.
Once it is complete each customer is allocated a unique ID number. This number is
stored with their customer details and is activated each time the customer contacts us.
Registration can be completed online or by post.
Customer assessment profiles can be updated at any time by calling our customer support
team on 0845 6021937 (UK) or +44 208 996 8444 (International).
Categories of assessment
We have classified our assessments into the following four categories.
These categories reflect the qualifications or affiliations required in
order to ensure that the assessments are administered appropriately and
treated with professional integrity. An index showing how our complete
assessment portfolio fits into these categories is attached.
-
School Assessments
Category 1 assessments are standardised assessments that are used in schools,
generally with whole groups. To continue to protect the legitimate use of these
assessments, they are only available to customers with a DfES registration number
and school address.
-
Assessments for administration by Educational Psychologists
Category 2 assessments are generally individual diagnostic assessments that are
administered by qualified specialists in schools or private institutions.
These continue to be available to school-based and independent educational
psychologists only.
-
Assessments for administration by Clinical Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists
Category 3 assessments are generally diagnostic assessments for use with individuals,
and are administered by qualified specialists in medical establishments. These continue
to be available to qualified practitioners only.
-
Assessments for administration by Registered Private Tutors
Category 4 assessments are largely assessments and resources to use with individuals
and are available to registered independent assessors and private tutors.
